Start of Spain package tour, Hello and welcome to Madrid. We will be waiting for you at the airport to transfer you to your hotel. You will have some free time until your tour begins. Please review the informational posters posted at the hotel reception area for details on the welcome meeting with your guide and fellow travellers. We provide transfers to the Egyptian Debod temple, Plaza de Espaa, and Gran Via at the end of the day; a vibrant district where you can dine at your preferred restaurant, which includes Indian, Chinese, Spanish, and Middle Eastern cuisines.
Day 2
The morning begins with a walking tour of Madrid’s historic centre, including the Paseo del Prado, Cibeles, Neptuno, Alcalá Gate, Plaza de Colón, and Plaza Mayor. Then we’ll go to Retiro Park, a city-centre oasis where we’ll see the lake and the Glass Palace. Then it’s on to the Las Ventas Bullring (with admission included). This is one of the most famous bullrings in the world, and the Bullfighting Museum will teach us about the “corridas” tradition. Take the remainder of the afternoon at your leisure. At sunset, we will provide a transfer to Plaza de Oriente, which is located directly across from the Royal Palace and is an elegant and bustling area with many restaurants serving a variety of cuisines, including traditional Spanish cuisine, and international cuisine, and Chinese cuisine. Enjoy a delicious meal of your choice. We’ll all return to the hotel together at the end of the evening.
Day 3
We leave Madrid early in the morning. We travel through La Mancha to the south, stopping in PUERTO LAPICE, a manchego village that evokes Don Quixote. We’ll enter Andalusia through Despeaperros and end up in GRANADA. Lunch is included in the price. If you purchased the trip with entrance included, we will visit the massive Alhambra Palace and its beautiful Generalife gardens with a local guide in the afternoon.
In the evening, we visit Granada’s Albaicn district, which, along with the Alhambra, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you can dine in the narrow winding streets of this captivating Medieval Moorish quarter. Tonight, you have the option of seeing a flamenco dance show or visiting the traditional Sacromonte neighbourhood.
IMPORTANT NOTE: The number of people permitted to visit the Alhambra is strictly regulated by law. The number of places allocated to tour operators is limited, and we are only informed of our quota one month before our arrival. Even if you purchase the trip with the ticket included, we cannot guarantee that you will visit the Alhambra (if these tickets are not available, the Reales Alcázares in Seville, which is similar, will be visited, and a sightseeing tour of Granada with a local guide will be offered). If visiting the Alhambra is a top priority for you, we recommend purchasing the trip “without tickets” (the cheapest option) and booking your tickets from the individual quota on the heritage website https://www.alhambra.org.
Day 4
We will depart from Granada for the Costa del Sol and arrive in MALAGA, where we will explore the historic city centre, including the cathedral and the Picasso Museum. Following that, we’ll continue along the coastal highway, which offers stunning views of the Mediterranean. Stopping in PUERTO BANUS, Marbella, a charming resort known as Europe’s playground for the wealthy and famous. In the afternoon, we’ll continue through the hills until we reach RONDA, a lovely “white town” divided in two by a large gorge. Then we’ll continue to SEVILLE, where we’ll arrive in the late afternoon.
Day 5
After breakfast, a local expert will guide you on a scenic visit to Seville featuring the Cathedral and its famous Giralda (bell tower), the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and popular neighbourhoods of Santa Cruz and Triana and the beautiful Plaza de España. After the visit, we will include a boat trip along the river Guadalquivir, enjoying the panoramic views from the boat. Right after, you will have free time to explore at your leisure. At the end of the afternoon, we will go to the historic city centre area (Calle Alfonso XII) where there are many different types of restaurants for you to choose from.
Day 6
On the sixth day of the Spain Package tour, you will be transferred to the train station in Seville early in the morning to board a comfortable high-speed train to Zaragoza. The 850 km between Seville and Zaragoza can be covered in just under four hours. In ZARAGOZA, you will join the group and have free time to explore the city centre and see the impressive Pilar Basilica. We continue to the Monastery of Poblet, which is one of the best-preserved mediaeval monasteries in the world, surrounded by its walls in a beautiful setting (entrance and guided tour included).
We then travel to the Monastery of Montserrat, where you will ride a rack train up the mountain to see the spectacular scenery. Following that, we’ll travel to BARCELONA, where we’ll arrive in the late afternoon.
Day 7
Today, we’ll visit Barcelona, a stunning city on the Mediterranean Sea.
